Silo crash almost deadly

Ok, this is really weird. We were driving down to New Richmond on Tuesday morning and drove up on the scene of what looked like a horrific accident. All we saw was the remains of the van below being pulled from the rubble of a toppled silo. I thought that someone had died.

When we got home, we saw the following story on the Leader website http://www.the-leader.com/. That girl is so lucky to be alive! I also noticed that her last name is Baillargeon. Apparently she is related to the teacher that was accused of having sex with the teenager from Amery. What a coincidence.

Sarah Baillargeon, a 28-year-old Amery woman was injured when her vehicle collided with a silo Monday evening and she is "lucky to be alive," according to Polk County Sheriff Tim Moore.

The accident occurred at the Kieckhoefer farm on Hwy. 65, two miles south of Hwy. 8 at Kennedy Mill Avenue. According to a sheriff's report Sarah Baillargeon was driving south on 65 and approaching a sharp curve when she said she became disoriented due to heavy fog and failed to negotiate the curve.

She exited the road and struck a 50-foot cement silo and came to rest in the silo pit. The vehicle was left in the silo pit until Tuesday morning due to severe damage caused to the silo, rendering it unstable. - Photo from Polk County Sheriff's Department
